Project

Kustaa Saksi has developed several projects at the Textiellab over the years, creating his graphical works of art. For his latest series, the Anius Myth Series, he wanted to push the capabilities of the loom to the very edge. He made works on different warps, and used special bindings and transparent layers showing loose colourful floating yarns underneath. Saksi used a Jacquard weave, which allowed him to exert a lot of control over the details, colour and material use.

Process

Saksi was working and experimenting closely with the textile developers and yarn specialists from the TextielLab to find the best material combinations for this project. For this series he worked on three different warps, a coloured warp with 5 different colours, a transparent warp and a black and white warp, experimenting with different wefts and bindings to creating something extraordinary.
