This tubular fabric is double knitted, meaning that different colours are visible on the outside and inside of the knit. The sock has a total of four layers of opposite colours. It was essential to use yarns that shrink, because the four layers could only be achieved by knitting the design loosely and far apart on the knitting machine. After being steamed, the fabric shrinks and becomes much more compact. For this sample, product developer Sarena also added a structure in one of the colours.
