In order to continuously develop the skills and knowledge, the weaving developers work on internal projects where they test and research new yarns or ways of working. This project consisted of discovering the possibilities of working on a colored warp. In weaving, the vertical yarns are called warp and the horizontally inserted yarns are weft. In our Lab, the warp usually consists of only white yarns or black and white ones. Weft yarns can be any color that we possess in our yarn stock.

There are many artists or designers who wish to work on colored warp, therefore, it is necessary to enhance our expertise in this direction. The use of colored warp and weft yarns in combination with the weave structures enable the development of striking patterns. For a given multi-colored pattern, a color can be strategically placed in the pattern just by using the binary system of warp and weft intertwining. Therefore, working on a colored warp offers new effects in the design as well as the development of new color palettes. Working on colored yarn provides more color options with less yarns, as well as easier creation of details. However, it requires more complex thinking about bindings.
