For this sample, six colours (blue, yellow, green, red, black and white) were used to translate a photo into a knit. Although it would have been easy to make green by mixing yellow and blue, product developer Jan Willem decided to add a 'nicer' green yarn. So, theoretically, a photo could be knitted with only five colours.
