‘Raveleijn’ was first performed in the Efteling theme park in 2011. The show tells the story of five horse riders who display their special skills to the audience. At the time, several samples were developed with the TextielLab for the riders’ outfits. The knitted sleeve developed in the lab resembles chain mail but also had to be colourful, tough and wearable. Unfortunately, the fabric proved unsuitable for different temperatures and the intensive role the riders have to play. The knit was eventually used as the basis for the actual outfits; the samples were photographed, adapted and printed in five colours on tricot, a fine warp-knit fabric that is soft and breathable.
