The brilliant colours of a soap bubble are created by light reflected from both sides of the thin film. In Double Bubble, Nienke Sybrandy reproduces the spectacular colour palette of soap bubbles. The Lurex incorporated into the table linen gives the design its shiny, reflective quality.
Sybrandy (1979) lives and works in Amsterdam. She studied textile at the Rietveld Academy and applied arts at the Sandberg Institute. She makes both independent and commissioned works. Soap bubbles and flowers are recurring themes.
