This sample was created as part of Suzanne Oude Hengel’s investigation into how simple rib structures can be used to form the upper of knitted footwear. The qualities of the knit, such as the transfer lines and change in rib scale, were also incorporated into the upper’s aesthetics. Meanwhile, the use of elastic provided flexibility and dimension.
