In order to continuously develop the skills and knowledge, the weaving developers work on internal projects where they test and research new yarns or ways of working. This project consisted of discovering the possibilities of special yarns and the effects they can create. By a strategic combination of special yarns and a thought-through selection of bindings, the effect of a 3D “bubble” was achieved. The yarns used for this project were a thick and fluffy yarn and a shrinking yarn. The shrinking yarn was binded tighter together than the thick fluffy yarn, which was almost freely floating, therefore, when taken off the loom, the shrinking yarn shrank and allowed for the fluffy yarn to “pop” and make a 3D effect.
