2010 research sample

Interlock, the technique used in this sample, was common in the past. Product developer Jan Willem applied the technique on the knitting machine. The sample is made from Nomex, a flame-resistant material that is, for example, very suitable as a helmet fabric for motorcycle racers. When the fabric comes into contact with fire, it swells and becomes thicker, forming a protective barrier between the heat source and the skin.
