Haily Kim's background in both media design at Yong In University and fashion and textile design at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague makes her work intriguing and playful. Her handicraft skills and colour combinations are also impressive. Sparked by her upbringing in South Korea and experiences with gender discrimination, Kim wanted this work to celebrate women’s independence and strength. The knotted flower is made from coloured rope she developed herself and was inspired by the bright floral dresses her grandmother wore.
