Tassels are frequently used in passementerie, including to decorate curtain ties. This sample combines various techniques. Some of the cords were gimped in graduated colours and turned into decorative knots. These knots were then incorporated into a woven band as well as a crouton (the part embroidered with gold thread). Each element of these tassels is highly intricate, as reflected in the beautifully ornate result.
