‘MINE’ is based on research that an anonymous scientist (A.S.) carried out among the Miao people in China. Among other things, the scientist investigated certain Miao rites of passage, in which they hold horse fights and dance in geometric shapes. The only condition for using the scientist’s findings was that he remain anonymous, to avoid the ignominy of a promising career having been cut short. In ‘MINE’, Coppens presents the scientist’s work, hidden in various knitting techniques.
