In the dunes, Wieneke Bremer sees a wild natural landscape characterised by a play of colour, texture and the structures of different plants and mosses. Inspired by satellite images, she creates romanticised, textile dune landscapes. The landscape depicted in this sample – inspired by satellite images of the Schoorl dunes in Noord Holland – was industrially knitted with merino wool. The challenge for the developers lay mainly in the use of different weaves to capture the versatility of the dunes’ vegetation, structures, textures and hues.
