In his graduation collection ‘Liminal Lines’, Berlin-based designer Goran Sidjimovski explores the concept of liminality, the 'transitional state of someone who finds himself between two roles’. In addition, Sidjimovski interprets the discursive meanings of the word liminal (such as ‘transition’, ‘transformation’, ‘ambiguity’ and ‘in-between’) from a contemporary perspective in relation to gender and queerness. The collection examines the possible outcome of transition processes when the direction is not clear, when there are no clear lines to follow or when disorientation – or simply the refusal to follow norms – provides the opportunity to discover new directions, ideas or identities. In collaboration with the TextielLab, Sidjimovski developed a knitted jacket as part of the collection.
