Finnish designer Kasia Gorniak developed industrial knitted garment sculptures for the ongoing series 'I Once Made A Performance'. The pieces are based on compositions created through improvised performances with dancer Laura Jantunen and several found knitted garments.
In the series, the found garments come together as one, in a free flow of interaction with the body. A small selection of these was translated into new pieces, soft and pliable in their materiality but with a frozen, dynamic moment embedded in their structures. ‘I Once Made A Performance, Part 1’: “a performance which is kind of not visible” took place in Helsinki’s Zodiak Centre for New Dance. The performance unfolded around the garment sculptures, based on the choreography generated during the design process.
