To demonstrate that deep-pile material can be embroidered, product developer Frank de Wind developed this faux fur sample. By placing water-soluble foil over the fabric (instead of using it as a backing), the fabric can be stretched taut and the machine does not get caught in the long fibres. The foil is then dissolved, leaving behind a compact embroidery.
